Educational Background:
I earned a B.S. in Environmental Management from the University of Redlands and earned my teaching credential from Dominican University of California in San Rafael. Though I started my teaching career in 5th grade at Harmony, I had a desire to move down and work in early childhood after learning more about brain development in young children. I've since taught Kindergarten/TK for the past 5 years! I'm interested in nurturing the "whole child" by developing deep relationships with my students and connecting them with our natural environment. I love being inspired by student interests, letting them help guide some of our exploration in school. TK is a magical age and I try to sprinkle a little fairy dust into each day, whether it's playing in Dragon Playground, drinking morning tea together, exploring in the forest, playing with silks and dolls, painting, or movement, my hope is that students will LOVE coming to school each and every day. My husband grew up in Occidental and attended Harmony and Salmon Creek School! We have two boys (3.5 years and 16 months), a yellow lab, 6 chickens, and a bunch of fish. I enjoy gardening, camping, traveling, yoga, photography, and have been learning more about how to integrate mindfulness and social justice practices into my early childhood program. This will be my 13th year of teaching here at Harmony! |
